Volunteers

Our current team of Volunteers are:

Lindsey My name is Lindsey and I am from hot and sunny Arizona in the United States. I am currently the Marketing and Communications Volunteer here at Pax Lodge and I have been in Girl Scouts for over 15 years, since I was a Daisy. I came here to Pax Lodge as a Cadette Girl Scout in the summer of 2002 for one of Pax Lodge’s London experience programs.

Girl Scouts has introduced me to so many amazing people, has allowed me to help those in need through volunteer projects, and has allowed me to explore so many new places. I look forward to improving my skills in communications through the various projects I’ll be working on and I can’t wait for all of the memories I will capture during my six months here at the Centre. Say hi when you come to visit!

"We live in a wonderful world that is full of beauty, charm and adventure. There is no end to the adventures we can have if only we seek them with our eyes open." – Jawaharlal Nehru

I have just completed a 4 year degree in International Development from the University of Guelph and am taking a gap year before going back to school. I arrived at the end of November and will be at Pax Lodge until the end of April. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to live in London and experience all this amazing city has to offer, while at the same time meeting people from all over the world.

Julia at Baden Powell Memorial
Hallo! My name is Julia and I’m from Dornbirn, Austria. I have been involved in Guiding since I’m a Brownie and now I’m glad to spend my gap year as a Resident Volunteer here at Pax Lodge.

Living and volunteering here in London at one of the World Centres means a lot to me. Meeting new people every day, making new friends from all over the world and sharing ideas and traditions. Only Guiding can enable girls and young women the opportunity of gaining so many impressions and new skills in such a short time. Pax Lodge is a great place to stay and "…will always be our home".

Sari

Hello! This is Sari from Japan. I also want to say "hi!" in my language, "Konnichiwa". I've been in scouting for 12 years in Tokyo and now I'm a leader of Junior scouts.

I'm so happy to visit again to the beautiful city London. And it’s just like a dream to be able to work here. I can tell you that every girl who is belonging to Girl Scouts or Girl guides should have the chance to work here with lovely staff from all over the world. I just believed myself and came here. So you also can do it like me!

Let's get started something with confidence! It will be nice, I'm sure : )

Nour Marhaba! "Hi" My name is Nour. I'm from Aleppo-Syria. I've been in scouting for 14 years and now I'm a leader for girl guides. I'm 22 years old and I graduated last summer from the University - Department of Archaeology. Being a girl guide has made a really big difference in my life and it's something I don't ever imagine stop doing.

I'm a resident volunteer here. I have to say before I arrived I was so afraid and worried but now I'm amazed! It's the most friendly and beautiful place to work and live in! I thought that I'll miss my friends back home, but now I know I'll miss my friends here when I go back home!

For me the best thing about it is that there is no moment wasted here! so every moment is productive somehow.. whether I'm working or just hanging around with people from all around the world.. that makes me feel so good about myself!

Christable My name is Christable. I am 19 years old and from Ghana. I have been a guide for the past 19 years because my mum is an active member of the Girl Guide Association in Ghana so basically I was born into guiding. I love guiding so much that was why I decided to volunteer at Pax Lodge.

Pax Lodge is a place you meet different people from all walks of life and a place for cultural exchange and making long lasting friendship. Guiding has really opened great doors for me. I LOVE GUIDING.
Christable, Resident Volunteer, Ghana Katrine

Hi! I'm Katrine, and I'm from Denmark. I'm 19 years old, and I have been a girl guide for 12 years. I want to make new friends with other girl guides, and know about other cultures. So being a volunteer at Pax Lodge is a great opportunity to do this. I'm very happy to be here and work with other guides from other countries. It's really amazing, and living here has made me think about other ways of knowing guides from different parts of the world.

Pax Lodge is a place any guides would feel like home.

Alison at StonehengeHi, my name is Alison and I’m from Toronto, Ontario, Canada. I have been a part of Guiding in Canada for 13 years, starting as a Brownie and working my way up to Ranger. When I was a Pathfinder my unit went to Our Cabana and that’s when I made my goal to visit all four world centres.

Now that I’m here at Pax Lodge working as an Office Volunteer, I’m half way to my goal. Three years ago I graduated from Brock University with a degree in Recreation and Leisure studies and a minor in Environmental Studies. I’m really excited to be in London and to experience all the city has to offer while I’m here.
